A view of the city called Ragusa by the ancients. Dubrovnik, which means oak grove in ancient slavic, was established in the 6th century and later part of the Venetian empire. An earthquake severely damaged the city in 1667, but those bright red tile roofs still gleam in the sun near the blue of the sparkling Adriatic sea.
