Ki'i heads and Hawaiian beach scenes
My son in law took me on an early morning surf adventure to North Shore on Oahu Hawaii. As he surfed, I had the chance to explore the beach up there between Sunset Beach and Bonzai pipeline. I came across this scene and thought it was really cool. I figure some poor dope found out the hard way that it's not smart to sit under a coconut tree. I had about 1 hour of light to work with when I painted this, intending to complete it the next day. After I looked at it for a day or so I realized it said what I wanted it to say so I left it in it's spontaneous stage. It seemed to convey the feeling of that morning just right.
