Morro Bay California
It's just what remains of the core of an ancient volcano, but Morro Rock in California seems to have a personality of it's own. I saw this scene at Windows on the water, a very nice restaurant. The golden light filled the room and flooded the deck outside.
Almost monochromatic, this canvas is highly textured and has lots of surprising little color variations and inclusions. Gold, caramel, oxblood, violet and variations of these colors are scattered over the surface of the work, animating it with texture and variation.
