Shell Beach is an old fashioned beach town in central California and is quite picturesque. This painting has a simple but effective composition and soft pastel coloring, spiked by a complex and textured paint surface that catches the light. This painting won First Place in oil at the Alliance of California Artist's Open Show in Fresno in 2009
